จอภาพสีสดใสมองเห็นจากหลายมุม เนื่องจากให้ความสว่าง และสีสันในอัตราที่สูง มีการตอบสนองต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงของภาพที่เร็วขึ้นและมีความคมชัดขึ้น มีชื่อเรียกอีกชื่อว่า TFT - Thin Film Transistor และเนื่องจากคุณสมบัติดังกล่าวทำให้ราคาของจะประเภทนี้ค่อนข้างสูง

Dual-Scan Twisted Nematic (DSTN) ด้วย Passive matrix color จอภาพสีค่อนข้างแห้ง เนื่องจากมีความสว่างน้อย และสีสันไม่มากนัก และทำให้ไม่สามารถมองจากมุมมองอื่นได้ มุมมองจะค่อนข้างจำกัดกว่าLCD แบบTFT เรียกอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า DSTN- Dual-Scan Twisted Nematic ซึ่งปัจจุบันจอ LCD ประเภทนี้ไม่ค่อยได้รับความนิยม จึงทำให้หาซื้อได้ยากตามท้องตลาด

จอ LCD มีรายละเอียดการเลือกชื้อ ที่แตกต่างกับจอแบบ CRT บ้าง ประการแรกนั่นคือค่าของ Refresh Rate และ Dot pitch แต่ไม่ใช่ประเด็นสำคัญในการนำมาเปรียบเทียบ เพราะจอภาพแบบนี้มีหลักการการสร้างภาพที่แตกต่างออกไป สิ่งสำคัญกว่านั้นคือความละเอียด หรือ Resolution ที่ถือว่าเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญที่สุดก็ว่าได้ เพราะยิ่งมีความละเอียดมากก็ยิ่งให้ความสมจริง และสวยงามมากยิ่งขึ้น จอแบบนี้ถือเป็นจอระดับสูงด้วยจุดเด่นหลายๆประการนั่นคือ ประหยัดไฟฟ้า ประหยัดพื้นที่ทำงาน ให้การแสดงผลที่ดีและไม่มีปัญหาในเรื่องของสนามแม่เหล็กและการแผ่รังสี
